Class 10 – Finite and Non-Finite Verbs

1. Since – तब से (Fix time) Day/ Month/ Year/ Fix time (Monday/ April/2004/ 4pm)

2. For – Two years/ two days/ two months/ eight hours

3. To के साथ verb का base form लगती है

4. Subject की जगह verb लगानी पड़े तो verb में ing लगाए

5. of के बाद gerund (ing form), avoid के बाद gerund, by/in/on/about इनके बाद भी gerund

6. 1. Present participle (Verb + ing) = मतलब action “होते हुए / करते हुए” दर्शाता है।
Run → running (दौड़ना → दौड़ते हुए)
Play → playing (खेलना → खेलते हुए)
I saw him running. (मैंने उसे दौड़ते हुए देखा)
She is singing a song. (वह गाना गा रही है)
Present Participle = काम अभी हो रहा है (Verb + ing)

2. Past Participle (Verb का 3rd form (V3)) = काम पूरा / passive voice में प्रयोग होता है।
Eat → Eaten (खाना → खाया हुआ)
Break → Broken (तोड़ना → टूटा हुआ)
This letter is written by me. (यह पत्र मेरे द्वारा लिखा गया है)
He has eaten his food. (उसने अपना खाना खा लिया है)
Past Participle = काम हो चुका है (Verb का 3rd form)

2. I saw a tiger yesterday. (See/saw)

3. Mohan was very tired. So he went to bed early. (Go/ gone/ went/ going)

4. The sun rises in the east (rises/ rise/ rised)

5. It was dark. So I took a torch with me (take/ took/ taken)

6. Barking dogs seldom bite. (Barking/ bark)

7. He promised to return the money (to return/ returns)

8. I have been ill since Saturday (for/ after/ from/ since)

9. Ravi is playing football. (Playing/ played/ play)

10. My father is a retired teacher. (Retire/ retired/ retiring)

11. He is going to buy a car next month. (Go/ goes/ going)

12. Seeing the snake, he was afraid. (See/ seeing/ saw)

13. When I reached the station the train had already left (leave/ left)

14. She is thinking of buying a car. (Buy/ buying)

15. Repair the broken window just now. (Broken/ break)

16. My younger brother used to play tennis in his childhood (play/ playing)

17. The student has been suffering from fever for three days. (Since/ for/ from)

18. It has been raining since morning. (For/ since/ till)
